A nice steak always makes a great friday dinner

Tonight we had a wonderful dinner for a Friday to remember. Steak dinner with all the fixin's. My son did all the cooking while I put my feet up on the couch and watched Nascar qualifying. The steaks couldn't have been better if we'd went to Outback Steakhouse and paid a huge amount of money for them.

He's got his seasoning down for the steaks just right and we've switched over to cast iron skillets to cook them in. That way they get that nice brown crusty char to them and they just make you wish you had another bite when you're down to the last piece. They were tender and juicy and well seasoned.

My dinner:

4oz steak
green beans
small baked potato
1tsp margarine
1 slice whole wheat garlic toast homemade

Overall I'd give this meal a definite A+, we were celebrating my youngest son going back to work this week after a long hiatus. A good steak dinner at the end of a hectic back to work week is a must in this house. I'm just glad I'm not the one who has to be working outside the house anymore and now that I think about it, it is quite relaxing to rest on the couch while someone cooks for you. I could get used to this even though I really miss cooking like I used to do.

My sons & I also have an eBay Store so drop by anytime!!

  3. So, what are you seasoning with? Speaking of Outback, my husbands birthday was Sunday so I found a copy cat recipe page with "Outback Steakhouse seasoning recipe". It turned out OK, but it was taco seasoning, coke, and an italian dressing packet. Just curious how you season your steak????

  4. Hi, Wow that recipe is no where near right. Here's what we use; olive oil, seasoned salt, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, cumin. I just put in a bowl 1 tbsp each of all the spices. Rub both sides of the steaks with olive oil generously then coat the steaks heavily in the spice mixture. They are pretty darn close we think.
