ABC FAMILY BRINGS YOU SWITCHED AT BIRTH VOLUME 1 Now Available
On DVD!
The cast of Switched at Birth is a very
talented group of individual actors and now that
they are all joined in a single series I think they are each
great at giving their own spins to each of their characters.
I hope you've been watching it and are anxiously buying
your dvd now that it's available so you won't miss a minute
of this family drama.
I've been following
this parenting series from the start and I can
tell you it's hard to distinguish who is lying
and who is not sometimes the actors are that good
at making you believe them. You know how you can usally
pick out a few oddballs in a series that you
can always depend on to let you know the truth
no matter what? Well, you can't quite do that
with this one. They'll have you thinking you
know who is lying and who isn't, but oddly
enough you might be surprised.
The overall story is an original take so this
tv drama travels way beyond the usual
happening's in the goody goody World of ABC
Family's normal television shows. The concept
is something that could happen to anyone in
America at any given time so it's easy to
believe. Heck, I often wished growing up that
someone would have told me my parents weren't
really mine;Just kidding- ok, my brother Mike
that's another story.
Switched At Birth takes place in an
immaculatele household which I find to be
strange, who on earth keeps their house that
clean all of the time! That would drive me
crazy.
ABC Family's Switched at Birth takes
an emotionally charged step into a whole new
plain of existence and is well worth your viewing
time. It will give you a lot to
think about and will make you very happy
that this didn't happen to you.
Oh sure it raises some great questions about
family members honesty, secret identities and
the responsibilities of everyone you know will
come to mind.
The discovery is made from a high school
science project that there is no way the blood
of Bay Kennish could match that of her
parents. Turns out that Bay was switched at
birth with Daphne Vasquez who has been raised
by a single mom a little above the poverty
level. The two live really close together
which seems kind of fishy from the start. The
other set of parents involved are of course
rich or at least a lot better off since they
have everything including a guest house.
The families are frequently in the same room
together and thinking about how they never
noticed that their kid didn't resemble them at
all. I mean it's a little crazy you'd think
they would be smart enough to know something
as simple as that. I do find it unsettling that
they never talk to a lawyer so there might be
something shady going on there that hasn't
been revealed yet from the rich parents.
There's plenty to keep you tuned in since as I
said, the cast is great. The acting is superb
and it's a good story line.
There are the many contrast's you would expect
to come into play in this series such as
therich versus the poor, traditional family
values versus non traditional but there's also
an unexpected twist that's really obvious so
I'm not spoiling anything by mentioning it to
you.
Because of a childhood disease of
meningitis Daphne is deaf. So hand signaling
and signage come into play a lot ok maybe
a little too much for my liking. This adds a
lot of emotional drama to the plot but I do
wish some of the scenes wouldn't rely on
showing us what they say on screen. For me
with low vision you have to get right on top
of the screen in order to read it and they
don't keep it on the screen long enough. But
hey, if you know sign language at all you'll
be right at home.
A lavish guest house mentioned in the first
episode will be put to use in about the 3rd
episode and it will make you wish you lived
there it's so nice. This new extended family
must live together which seems odd to me but
it keeps the show moving at a good pace with
always something going on
so the guest house is the key hangout.
As the rich white lady with the exquisite
house Kathryn is an on edge kind of gal. Her
hubby Thompson seems a lot like an almost
"gay" dad would be but he's not gay he just
gives you that impression. Regina is my least
favorite of all of the characters
in this ensemble cast and sheinevitably is the
toughest cookie in the jar. She also seems to
be the only person who truly understands what
is happening but maybe it's because she is on
the sneaky side.
Daphne has a calming effect on you while Bay
is ever perky it seems. They do a stellar
job of being totally different from one
another in every way.
So in short the story is grounded and while
they are not a Modern Family so to speak, they
do have a lot of curb appeal. I think you
should get this dvd and start watching this
wonderful ABC Family series and see how
terrific life in sunny California can be.

The following information is a press release provided

ABC Family. Diabetic Snacker
likes letting you know
about upcoming movie releases coming out on dvd. I guess it's not
going to be available yet on blu-ray but I'm sure it will be in 2012.
This dvd would make an excellent gift idea for someone on your holiday list. It's a family friendly show that I seriously never miss. It has romance, drama
and an all around fun quality about it. I find it relaxing every week
to sit back and watch it. It makes you think what would you be like
if this had happened to you? It's a scary thought but hey it could
happen and it does happen every day all over the World.
You'll see how these two families are coping with this child switching
and be able to compare it to what you would do differently. I think it's
a great family tv show which is something that is hard to find these
days. So give it a look see or get it on dvd and watch it whenever you'd
like. Don't think this is just a girly drama either. My adult son also
watches this show and he likes it so there is something for everyone
on the tv screen.
If you know someone learning sign language it will be an educational
program for them to watch because they show a lot of signage techniques
and tips. I don't know how to sign so I'm glad most of the time they
still speak the words. It's hard for me with my low vision when they
just put the text on the screen so I wish tv shows would stop doing
that.
